USIU-Africa has expanded its online program offering, with four new programs expected to launch in January 2025. The latest additions, which include the Bachelor of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Bachelor of Science in Data Science, Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Studies and the Master of Arts in International Relations join the three online programs that were launched earlier in the Fall semester. The programs are part of USIU-Africa’s push to address the needs of an evolving job market and to provide students with opportunities to gain specialized knowledge and skills in high-demand fields.
The launch of these programs builds on USIU-Africa’s demonstrated success in online learning, which has been recognized internationally. The university was recently awarded the Outstanding Impact by a Non-U.S. Higher Education Organization by Quality Matters (QM). USIU-Africa has rigorously adhered to QM’s quality practices, including peer review and professional development for educators, positioning itself as a regional leader in online learning. These efforts led to the institution's Online Master of Business Administration program receiving accreditation from the WASC Senior College & University Commission (WSCUC) in 2020, followed by accreditation from the Commission for University Education (CUE) in 2021. Since then, seven additional programs have been certified for online delivery, and over 165 faculty members have completed QM workshops, equipping them with the skills to design and deliver high-quality online courses.
“We are honored to receive this award, which reaffirms USIU-Africa’s dedication to student success, our ongoing commitment to excellence in online education, and our commitment to meeting Quality Matters (QM) standards,” Dr Machoka said. “This recognition motivates us to continue raising the bar and ensuring our students receive the highest-quality learning experiences,” he added.
The new programs are designed to accommodate a diverse range of students, including working professionals and international students, by offering flexible, accessible, and high-quality learning options. The programs leverage innovative pedagogy and advanced technology, the new programs offer unparalleled flexibility, allowing students to pursue their studies from any location while maintaining the academic rigor USIU-Africa is known for.
USIU-Africa’s expanded online program offerings reaffirm the university’s dedication to providing accessible, high-quality education tailored to the demands of an increasingly digital and interconnected world. With these new additions, the university continues to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and perspective necessary to thrive in diverse fields and make a meaningful impact globally.
