Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers have arrested Rongo MP Paul Abuoro over conflict of interest and theft of public funds.
Abuoro is currently at the EACC headquarters in Nairobi, where he is recording a statement.
The arrest relates to the award of tenders worth Sh122 million by the Rongo National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) to companies associated with him between the financial years 2017/2018 and 2024/2025.
EACC CEO Abdi Mohamud confirmed the arrest, stating preliminary investigations revealed that Abuoro and one Christopher Abuor had registered a private company, Aztec Infrastructure Kenya Limited, where they both serve as directors.
“Using the company, the suspect trades with Rongo NG-CDF through construction and drilling of boreholes and has so far received Sh122 million. He is the sole signatory to the company’s bank account,” said Mohamud.

He further noted that the MP's personal assistant had registered another company, Jebset Holdings Limited, through which the assistant received Sh19.4 million from the Rongo NG-CDF.
The assistant is the sole director and signatory to the company’s bank account.
The case is part of a broader investigation into reports of embezzlement of public funds under the NG-CDF, National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), and Women Enterprise Funds.
Mohamud warned against abuse of office, urging state officers to desist from using their positions to exploit citizens.
